WHAT METHOD OF CLEANING DO YOU USE?

We use a chemical which is known as percholethelene (perc). It is the
most effective cleaning product on the market, and having been around
almost 100 years we are concerned with the environmental effects of
chemical agents. This chemical, acts as a degreasing agent, which helps
your clothes come clean. Through a combination of sanitizers and
detergents along the base perc we believe we can do the best for you.

DOES FREQUENT DRYCLEANING WEAR DOWN A GARMENT FASTER?

Actually, to the contrary no, frequent drycleaning will prolong the life of your garment. The dirts and oils in soiled clothing act like sandpaper and weaken a garment's lifespan. The chemicals that are used in drycleaning act as degreasers and remove such dirts and oils and in most cases are even better on your garments than water. Most garments that get drycleaned more frequently have a longer lifespan of a garment that would be laundered, because drycleaning in most cases is easier on the garments than laundry.

WHY DO LADIES' ITEMS COST MORE TO CLEAN THAN MEN'S?

Cotton or cotton-poly blend shirts are laundered and finished mostly by automated shirt equipment. Most men's dress shirts are laundered and pressed with the aid of preformed shirt equipment. Women's dress shirts are processed this way when they are large enough. As men's shirts are typically larger than women's, this shirt equipment will not handle many women's sizes. Shirts that cannot be laundered just be dry cleaned and require hand finishing. Other examples that may require your shirt to be dry cleaned are rayon or silk fabric, if the care label specifies it, or if it requires cold ironing. Finally, the difference between a shirt and a blouse must be considered. Shoulder pads, material, and design are all factors in making the distinction. But a men's silk shirt, like a tux shirt, would be comparably priced to a woman's silk blouse. No matter what the case is, we want you looking your best.

Yes, most garments dropped off by 9am in most cases can be processed the same day. So if you are in a rush for a garment, and want to look your best in just a few hours, bring it to the London Cleaners early and stop by later in the day to pick it up. You can call ahead and we'll have it waiting for you too.

As specialists in this field for close to 100 years, we know which garments need what and how to do it. The first rule is to always follow the care label on the garment. All garment manufacturers are required by law to place a care label garment for processing.

This label is merely a guide though. In many cases the label is removed or ripped off, but because of our expertise in the field we know in most cases, by mere inspection of the material, what processing steps need to be taken. Don't have your best and most treasured items taken to just any cleaners, because sometimes if not properly processed, damage is irreversible. DO YOU REWEAVE CLOTHING?

Reweaving of garments is a way to save a very valuable garment that might have a tear or rip. Rather than just sew a seam in the garment, we actually take a piece of the garments material and actually reweave it back into the garment as if it were done by the manufacturer. Although this is a time consuming process, we have managed to save many garments in this manner. We have expert seamstresses on staff that will repair and in most cases save your clothing item. This service is highly recommended for customers who have very expensive items that have become damaged but do not wish to throw away or for matching garments such as suits that can be salvaged by re-weaving.
